Just another "One Sheet Wonder"...

Hey everyone!

With the holidays fast approaching, I know one thing we always look forward to is opening our mailbox and seeing who sent us a card that season. As fun as it is to reciprocate, it can also be stressful getting everything done. So HOW do you create a bulk-number of cards?

Well, there are a few ways, I'm sure, but I have a One-Sheet Wonder tutorial for you today that I hope helps crank 'em out!

If you are not familiar with the term "one-sheet wonder" (I wasn't until I tried it last year!), this means, we are going to stamp “Designer Paper” out of ONE piece of Cardstock and use it to create several different cards. Since we are not all working with the same supplies/stamps/paper, it was a bit challenging to create an EXACT layout for the cards you can make. So, I have posted four different layouts I used with mine and the dimensions of the papers. You can totally variate from this to create even more cards from this one sheet of paper. This is just a guide on how to make the actual OSW (one sheet wonder) paper and ideas of what to do with it.

Here are some BASIC supplies you will need:

2-3 pieces of colored cardstock (8 1/2X11) for base of cards (cut in ½ to create 4 to 6 cards)
1 piece of White cardstock for One sheet Wonder
Ink-I used the Tim Holtz Distress ink for this project...YES! You can stamp with it too!
1 Coordinating piece of Patterned paper-OPTIONAL, either 12X12 or 8 ½ x 11 (for more decorative looks)
Adhesive
Paper scraps in white and same color as your Cardstock base (if you dont' have scraps then you'll just want to take out a spare sheet or two in each color)
Embellishments of your choice...this is totally up to you. I used Bazzill Basics ribbon and Jolee's snowflakes.

LET'S GET STARTED:First, you can start by choosing a background image, such as these cute snowflakes. You want to use something that can be stamped over and over again or into a pattern of some sort. STAMP this image onto your white piece of cardstock until the entire piece is full. When you are finished, you will have, in essence, “patterned paper”. Use this to create lots of different looks to your cards. Here are the dimensions of the OSW paper I cut for my four cards: (all dimensions in inches)

Card 1: 5 ¼ X 4 for the BG (background), 2 ½ X 3 ½ for the diagonal piece
Card 2: 4x3

Card 3: 4 x 3 ½Card 4: (sentiment only) 1 ¼ X 3As you can see from my cards, there was plenty of leftover CS to use for either more cards, or punch shapes out as I did in the “tent” card using the scalloped circles.

It's always the best idea to cut the paper into the larger sized pieces first, then go back and cut what you can from scraps or leftover pieces. You could easily get a few more cards out of one piece of 8 ½ by 11 paper.

Here is the FULL list of supplies that I used if you'd like to create the same cards. If not, you can just refer above to the basic supply list and create your own works of art!:

Hero Arts Clear Design “ Winter's Butterfly” stamp set
Ranger Distress Ink in Antique Linen (used to stamp OSW paper)
Cat's Eye Chalk ink for distressing edges of paper
Memento Rich Cocoa ink for stamping sentiment and BG of brown CS (available at DCRU Store)

Cardstock:

3 pieces of Bazzill Brown CS (available at the DCRU Store)
1 piece of White CS for OSW
1 piece My Mind's Eye Laundry Line Patterned Paper (this was last year's paper, but check out ALL the gorgeous DP available at the DCRU store)

Additional Supplies:

Adhesive
Jolee's snowflakes
Bazzill basics ribbon
Dimensionals (“popdots”)
1 Marcella by K flower (can be found at Target in the scrap aisle). This flower looked like a snowflake to me so I used it in one of the cards.
Nestabilities (available at the DCRU store)

HERE is the Finished Product:Well, that's about it. I can't WAIT to see what you create out of a OSW! We'd love for you to leave a comment on this thread linking a OSW project of your own so we can see all your beautiful work... You can do this technique for just about anything!

Enjoy!

Very nice tute, Jessica. I have about 1,000 rubber stamps and have used them for background patterns for years.
