Nesting Shapes Not Just for Embellishing

It is time to have a little fun with our Quickutz Nesting Shapes and Spellbinders Nestabilities. We are going make some fun little projects today and hopefully give you a little inspiration.

Our first project is a very quick and simple card. First, take your double sided paper, cut and center score to the desired size. Then place the folded paper on top of your die with the scored center at top. Be sure to leave a small open area where the die will not cut through the center fold. Run through your choice of machine (I used my Epic Six). Then decorate your card as needed...simple...fun and oh, so cute!

Recipe: Quickutz Nesting Flowers; Scor-pal; Xyron 150; Copic Markers; K&Co Designer Mat Stack; Crafty Secrets Stamps; Misc. flowers, ribbons, and brads.

For my next project I decided to do something for back to school. This isn't just cute, but it is very practical too. What a fun way for you and your little Einstein to keep track of where they need to be. Your child can help you with this easy project at home. The front side of the tag states what bus to board. On the opposite side of this cute tag I have the name of the child's teacher and class number. This would be great to hang off a back pack or jacket zipper, especially once laminated.

Recipe: Quickutz Nesting Stars; Crop-a-dile; Stickles-Yellow; Misc. brads, archival pen and ball chain.

Here is something we can all have some fun with...mini albums. They make a lovely little gift or simple adornment for any space that needs a personal touch. Maybe even fill a decorative bowl with several of these and place on your coffee table.

Recipe: Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Heart Nestabilities; Spellbinders Shapeabilities Pendants-Renaissance Hearts; Quickutz Dragonfly 4x8 Alpha; Quickutz Basic Phrases CC Dies; K&Co Designer Mat Stack; Misc. ribbon.

A footnote for stampers: With the nesting shapes you may find it easier to stamp your image on your cardstock and then cut your shape. This will guarantee a good placement for your image.

If you decide to do any embossing, it is best to cut or stamp first, then run through the embossing folder or plate.

I hope you've enjoyed this mini tutorial on the nesting shapes and their many uses. Please feel free to experiment with your own projects or ideas and share them with us here.

Thanks for stopping by the DCRU Design Team Blog.

Smiles!
Gwen
