Swiss Dots Mania

There's some things in life you just can't live without....and I've got one for you scrappers...the Provo Craft Swiss Dots Folder.

Here at Die Cuts R Us, we call it the "little black dress" of the crafting world. Something you "need" and will use over and over again.

I have come to depend on the Swiss Dots Folder when a card or scrapbook page needs a little extra something that I can't figure out.

I've discovered that whether you are doing a LO, card, or altered project, the Swiss Dots folder can still be of use. It is great for picture backgrounds, borders, flowers, the list goes on and on. And another thing I love to do with the folder is emboss my image backwards so the dots are inverted and then fill them with glitter or crushed flock. Then you have the perfect dots and no one will know how you did it ; )

And don't hesitate to buy an Embossing Folder, even if you don't have a Cuttlebug or embossing machine. Here is a card I made using the Swiss Dots folder and a rolling pin. Embossing folders are very cheap (and can be found at the DCRU Store), so if you don't want to invest a lot in a machine, then simply buy a rolling pin. Here's a card that I made using the rolling pin as my embosser:

Now I wanted to show you how the Swiss Dots embossing looks on a LO. I embossed the strip of paper as a border and then sanded the dots to make them show up:

Here's a project I did using crushed flock in the inverted dots:

When in doubt, I always turn to my Swiss Dots folder. I think everyone on the DCRU DT is addicted to it. Here are some examples of my DT buddies cards.

First up is Carole, I just love how she used Swiss Dots for her entire background. Just beautiful:

And here is a card from Jessica. She used the Swiss Dots as an accent for her card and look how lovely it turned out:

Don't be afraid to think "outside the box" when embossing. And don't be afraid to use your rolling pin ; )

Visit the Die Cuts R Us store to buy the Provo Craft Swiss Dots Folder and all the new embossing folders that just hit the market. And be sure to scroll down to take a look at this weeks challenge and play along to be entered for a great prize.

Enjoy!
