A Paper Basket, Gift Package -Tutorial

(the above picture shows all the Homemade gifts we gave to Teachers, the kids classmates, and special friends or family at Christmas Time.)

Happy Friday Die Cuts R Us Fans!!!!

Today it is my turn to give you some inspiration!!!!  So I am making these Paper Baskets for the Girls (Piper and Willow my 8 year old and 5 year old daughters) to give their Teachers for Easter.

I made the same baskets once before to give our Homemade Chocolate Covered Cherries in at Christmas time they are fun to make pretty sturdy and then the person who receives your gift in Homemade packaging feels extra special to receive so much love and care from you!!!

And Here is a close up of the Christmas Baskets all full of Homemade Chocolates at Christmas Time.
So I am going to give you a tutorial on how to make these baskets using your Favorite Die Cuts R Us Designer Paper (and there are a million pretty prints to choose from just check out all the Designer Papers here!)  and Prisim Card Stock which can be found in the store here as well.

So now for the Pictures and my Tutorial.
To Make this Project the way I did you will need these items:

Sizzex Pillow Box Die Cut
Spellbinders Nestibilities - Lg Circles, and Labels #5 Dies
Designer Series Papers ( I used Basic Gray Papers here) of you Choice from Die Cuts R Us Store
 (2 6 x 6 sheets)
2 Colors of Card Solid Card Stock ( Prisim Cardstock in the Die Cuts Store)
Sticky Strip or Red Line Tape strong double sided adhesive to hold the die cuts together and mold them.

Paper Cut into:
Main Basket Color: 3 - 5 x 5" pieces
Basket Bottom and Handles: two 4 x 4" pieces, and three 1" x 5" pieces, and one 1" x 11" piece.
Take your Pillow Box Die Cut and cut each of the three 5" x 5" pieces of paper with it.  Then fold on the scored lines the die cut left.
Now on one end of the Pillow Box Die Cut cut off the half circle pieces as seen above.
***Note to Self and Everyone  - Important***
Before you cut off the half circle scored pieces off to create the bottom of the basket lay them all out and make sure you have the pieces the right way so they will attach to each other if you cut one piece the wrong way you will have to redo the die cut on a new piece of paper!!!
Use your Sticky Strip or Red Line tape and attach it to each die cut on the end with the extra flap so you can attach all 3 pieces to each other.
See picture above how to attach the pieces.

On picture on the right Now take your darker pieces of Card Stock cut into the 4"x 4" and your largest of the Large Circle Nesties Dies and cut out with the die cuts.  You can see what the basket looks like without a bottom on the picture on the right above.
Above you have your rounded basket outside, and the pieces for the bottom.
Take the three 1" x 5" strips and use your scoring tool and score each one 1/2" in from the top and the bottom so you will make 6 score lines.
Now put sticky strip across the six folded score lines on the side that will touch the inside of the basket.  The strips with make the basket sturdy and also make the base of the bottom of the basket.
Now take the two circle pieces you cut out with the lg Circle Nesties attach some pieces of Sticky strip either to the already adhered stirips inside the basket or on the circles then put one Circle into the center of the basket down on top of the strips, and one circle on the bottom of the basket under the strips.

After you put the circles inside and on the bottom of the basket you will see this on both sides of the basket base.
Now take the 6 die cuts you cut out using your Nesties Labels #
Take Glue dots and put one on each corner of the Designer paper die cut pieces and attach to each side section of the basket below.
Picture on the Left:
Take your hole punch and on the fold line of the basket on two sides directly across from each other punch a small hole about 1 1/2" down.  You will need two brads and your 1" x 11" basket handel here too.
Picture on the Right:
Attach them and you will have the finished basket.
Now above you can see two finished baskets the one on the left is the one I made today using the spring Die Cuts R Us Papers.  The basket on the right I played around with using different Patterned Papers and leaving every 3rd pannel plain card stock not adding a Designer Paper panel to it.

Now you can go have fun once you have done your first basket they will be a breeze you can put them together in a matter of minutes and the other day I cut out all the pieces for 19 baskets in just a couple of hours time and got them all ready to assemble!!!!

Well I really hope you are going to have a wonderful Weekend.  Tomorrow is my Birthday and my kids are on Spring Break and my Mom is actually here to visit so I am hoping my Husband and I can go out for a Birthday Dinner all by ourselves Yea!!!!!

Have a Very Die Cutting Stampendous Weekend!!!!
