Tuesday Challenge/Pop Up Cards

Happy Day After the Holiday:

Remember on Monday I talked about the supplies I gathered up to make a simple pop up card? Here they are again. I am going to call your specific attention to the smaller inserts that have the little fold out "shelf" showing. It is on the outside of that shelf that your pop up art will be placed, and you will glue to the part that connects to the bottom of the insert.
Here we see the pop up art attached. On one card, a little bath boy sits in his towel, and on the second card I attached a rubber stamp about "baby". The hang off title is barely visible on both cards but the word "boy" has been attached with die cut letters.

Here is a close up of the "shelf" ... I fold my insert card in half, I make two slits 2 inches in and 2 inches apart (this depends on the size of your insert and the pop art you are going to use). I make a score line from left to right at the top of each of the slits. Place your finger behind the center score (the original fold line) and pull out. This will pull the little shelf out and make it ready for art. Glue the top and bottom of the insert to the inside of your base card. Now you will attach your art. Just remember ...when you are designing your pop up application you will want to make sure that when the card is folded, the pop up does not extend beyond the card edge. (Hmmm, ask me how I know this!)
Here are the fronts of these two cards. I used Cricut New Arrival Cartridge for the die cuts, rubber stamps for the baby theme sentiments, and the base cards are pre-made pattern paper cards. So easy...
Here is a sample of a little more detailed pop up card. I cut 5 layers of flowers with the first flower cut at 5 inches. I decreased the size by 1/2 inch with each new cut. Each flower has been folded in half. I glued the largest flower to each side of the base card. With each of the smaller flowers, I glued only down the fold and set it into the folds of the flower behind. I then fold the card, and press with my hand. This will allow you to make sure that all flowers are where they should be.
When the card is opened, the flower blooms....
