Inspiration: Die Cuts & Embossing Folders

Happy Thursday DCRU Friends!!

Sheri here bringing you this week's Inspiration post!! I thought that we could play with one of my new favorite paper collections and a few toys!!

Have you seen the NEW 6x6 Sampler pack of My Mind's Eye Quite Contrary??

Before we get started...Have you ever used Quickutz Dies?? They are super easy to use and a MUST HAVE in your die cut collection!! For those of you that have not had the opportunity to play with them before I wanted to show you a quick peek at how easy they are to run through your cuttlebug machines.

One of my favorite tips while using your dies is USE UP SCRAPS!!

For the first card I have for you I used adorable
Cupcake Quickutz Die!!

Do you see the texture on the top of the Cupcake?? I love adding texture and dimension to my cards. I used the D'Vine Swirl embossing folder by Cuttlebug. The frame is made up of the Scallop Square and Classic Circle Nestabilities by Spellbinders.

My next card uses the beautiful Butterfly 2 Quickutz Die!! It is layered on a Classic Circle and the NEW Big Scallop Square Nestabilities by Spellbinders.

If you look closely at the butterfly, I used the Candy Cane Stripe embossing folder by Cuttlebug. This folder is not only for your Christmas projects...it has become one of my favorites!! It is perfect for adding texture to many objects like butterflies and ice cream cones.

I hope that you have enjoyed my projects and will be inspired to use die cuts and embossing folders together on your next project!!

Before you go, make sure to check out the Quickutz 4x4 dies in the DCRU store, HERE!! They are on SALE through the weekend at 20% off regular price!!

Happy Stamping!!

Puddle Jumper Fun - Lori Boyd

Happy Thursday all you DCRU Fans!!!
As you you know the Die Cuts R Us Design Team members periodically bring you
Inspiration Posts, well, today is my turn and I am so excited for you all to see what I have for you!!

Ok, so by now, you have all seen the Puddle Jumpers, the stamps designed by
me, Lori Boyd exclusively for Claudia and Company!!

You also know how fun they are to create with whether making a Card, a Scrap Page or a Project!  Yep, we have all stamped them beside their pet and Voila ...instant cute card, but have you thought about ALL the possibilities just 3 little Puddle Jumpers can offer!?!?!?
Well, I have and here are a few I wanted to share with you today:

Puddle Jumpers are perfect for making bright fun and cheery designs...

AND
Soft, vintage, shabby chic cards

You also know that they each come with their own little pet and that the pets can be
interchanged as you can see in this card:
However, did you know that the Puddle Jumpers have even more interchangeable options?

They sure do and this is how I got started...
Color up your Puddle Jumpers and using your paper snips....just snip off their heads!!! Yikes!!!
That doesn't sound very nice...I know, but believe me you will be happy you did!!
Why, You ask??
Well, this is why:

Paper piece Daisy's head onto Emma's body....

Then, put Emma's head on daisy's body...
what about Daisy's head on...hee hee...Noah's body!!!
You wanna see more???
OK...here goes...

Try snip Daisy's pigtails off and switching sides...
Makes them look like brand new stamps... huh?!?!

So how many stamps are you REALLY getting, how many fun possibilities are there??
LOTS and LOTS, especially once you get all 3 of the new Puddle Jumpers being released on April 1st.
Yipppeee!!
This post was so much fun and I hope you all have a blast
designing and paper piecing your own Puddle Jumpers!!

Be sure to keep your eye on the Claudia and Company blog as all the
April Release festivities are about to begin!!

Ribbon Weaving

for tutorial

You may have seen this card a few weeks ago during our DCRU Ribbon Challenge

I created my first weave card when I was on Cuttlebug Challenges last January!!
This is the card I created in Jan 09:
It can be made with DCRU's Fabulous Card Stock HERE.
And you can find that tutorial HERE.

I also created this card while on OCC last year.
Here is a page from a Valentine Paper Bag Album I made for my husband,
Eric last Valentine's Day.I used my weave technique, used card stock and made a pocket:

As you can see, no matter what the size or the material you use,
the weave technique adds a lot to your project.

Satin Ribbon CREME 5/8" x 5 Yds.    May Arts Ribbon BLACK Grosgrain Solid/Ivory Check 7/8" x 5yds.  May Arts Ribbon BLACK/WHITE Dots 5/8" x 5yds. Satin Ribbon PINK 5/8" x 5 Yds.

can be used for weaving
and as well as any of the Card Stock at the DCRU Store

I hope I have inspired you all to hop over to the DCRU Store, pick out for favorite Ribbon and Card Stock, then get to work and this simple, yet beautiful technique that can be fun and funky or Elegant and classy!!  A little work with a Big Impact!!

Inspiration from the HEART

Today is a very special day, it is the anniversary of my mother and step-father, Alice and Jim Wilson. All of their children are grown and on their own, with children of their own too. We have a fairly large blended family.

A couple of weeks ago the entire clan gathered at the Parental Homestead and had a wonderful time visiting and playing with the kids. It was the first time in FIVE YEARS!!! In that time we had six new grandchildren! This was a very BIG day for us all.

It was also a fantastic opportunity for me to get some photographs of everyone and a little documentation on important dates. I wanted to put them all together and create a little family album just for Mom and Jim. So using some of the fabulous paper collections from DCRU I put together a little album and a card for them.

Here are some of the pages from the album. (There is no journaling...I'll get to that tomorrow. Lots of stuff to write down and print out for this little project):

For these pages I used a misc. card stock and layered papers from the Cosmo Cricket lines at DCRU as well as, Basic Grey's Sugar Rush line. (You can't see them but in this little album I also used Basic Grey's Origins.)

Here is their card:

The DPs are from the Basic Grey Sugar Rush line. That cute little image is offered as a digi by TGF. Don't forget though...DCRU has many of the TGF rubber stamps for you to choose from. Those great images are a wonderful way to use all of those Copic Markers...like I did!

Don't forget that Claudia has a HUGE Copic Marker Sale coming up at the DCRU Store. Great prices and GIANTIC selection!

Happy Anniversary Mom and Jim...I love you both...from the bottom of my heart!

Smiles!

A "Little" Inspiration...

When I was asked to do a project for the Inspiration Post I knew what had to be done. I had to drag out all of my amazing dies and get busy on something that I enjoy...die cutting with my Quickutz Epic and making mini albums. Now, Quickutz was smart enough to put the two together for me and created the Santa's Workshop Limited Edition Set. I LOVE IT!

This set offers so many fun ways to create your own mini albums. Sizes, shapes, font, additional dies for decorating and even accessories! In my project I used the Sugarplum Mini Album and the accessories pages. These are so cute, stylish and not very time consuming...seriously...who has too much time right?

Another product that I find very inspiring right now are my TGF stamps. If you don't know the Twinkle Tots yet, please let me introduce you to, Max. He is near and dear to my heart. This little guy reminds me so much of my brother, John...it just makes my heart melt. He was the most adorable little boy with his big brown eyes and his chubby cheeks. He also loved to play Atari. Remember those? Asteroids, Space Invaders, Pac-Man...he even played Pong! Well, my little brother is a grown man now with a little boy of his own and he may get embarrassed if read this, but, I love him and I still love that little boy that used to set for endless hours in front of those video games.

So, now that I'm getting too sentimental and teary eyed, I'll show  you my project. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it. I have plans to send this little book of inspiration to a dear friend who has not one, but FOUR boys of her very own. I've set up four little pockets and photo frames and added space for her to put her own touches too. I hope she and her little ones will have fun flipping through this. Enjoy dear friend!
